User guideline of online course registration
  1. Go to our website: http://hkage.org.hk/b5/sz_programmes.html
  2. Click “Registration Details”, and fill in the form online.
  3. Log-in with your student ID number.
  4. You may see a Confirmation page of your registration and an e-mail will send to you and your parent.
  5. The application result will be announced on our website around 8 days before the course day. Enrolled students have to fax the confirmation slip with your parent’s signature to us within 2 days before the course day.

Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools
The 15th Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad

The Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools is a project learning competition jointly organised by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, the Hong Kong Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry and Hong Kong Education City, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education

It aims at promoting the interest of students in learning Chemistry and developing students’ skills in problem solving, critical thinking, communication and science process through project learning. We offer TWO streams of competition this year, (A) Project-based Stream and (B) Non-practical Stream to let students to show their talent by diverse means.

The theme of the 15th Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools in 2009/2010 is “Chemistry of Metal”. The purpose of the theme aims at
  • Promoting science for everyone;
  • Allowing students to quest this well-perceived field by their own lens;
  • Encouraging students to carry out investigative studies; and
  • Encouraging students to perform and demonstrate their chemical knowledge in diverse formats.

Eligibility to be Student Mentees

  • Members of the HKAGE or the Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Students Scheme of EDB, who are in S.4 or above
  • Students of the Mathematics or Science domain
  • Adaptive to self-learning model
  • Highly committed
  • Self-motivated
  • Responsible and have initiative in their own studies
  • Proficient in English language

Programme Information

  • 2-3 student mentees will be matched with ONE mentor and form a study group
  • The students will meet with the mentor regularly over a period of 4-6 months by means of face-to-face meetings, emails, phone calls, and visits
  • Each mentee has to develop his own study plan and submit the action plan as well as the progress and evaluation report
  • Each study group will deliver a presentation on its study outcomes
